ABIGAIL YEATES ARCHITECT specialise in solving complex design problems, whether they arise from the site condition, its history, heritage assets or planning constraints.
Tom joined Thomas Heatherwick in 1998 and was instrumental in the growth of Heatherwick Studio over the next 13 years. Initially working on sculptural installations, he was later responsible for the delivery of a number of architectural projects whilst also moving into a management role leading HR. He hired Abigail in 2005.
Tom studied art before moving into Architecture and remains passionate about the process of making. The skill of the artisan, and how the material informs the process are his primary interest. He explored materiality and the aesthetic effects of weathering when studying at The Bartlett, UCL. Whilst here he went on to develop user driven state changing environmental lighting.
He takes a collaborative approach to design and building, working closely with the consultant team on the delivery of projects.
As well as working with Abigail on all AYA projects Tom is a consultant for Kit Peel Gardens.
